The Duane W. Garrett photograph collection spans several decades in the latter half of the 20th century. It is comprised of approximately 50,000 negatives with a few prints on a variety of subjects in and around the State of Idaho.

Content Description The collection includes 275 glass plate negatives, 63 identified original prints, approximately 350 unidentified items (prints, cabinet cards, stereographs, postcards), and 201 contact prints. Images on people include Native Americans, local settlers, and the Sherwood family. Activities such as ice fishing, horseback riding, skiing, sledding, and boating are documented. This collection contains 211 photographic prints and twelve photographic negatives related to Sister Elsensohn's work at the Historical Museum at Saint Gertrude's Academy and Convent in Cottonwood, Idaho. Subjects include Polly Bemis, Chinese immigrants in the Lewiston area, and Idaho County pioneers. This collection also contains many images of Saint Gertrude's.
